Ye Olde Bush Pig Inne

The Bar Sturt Desert Pea

It Began:
In Alice Springs with a few 44 gallon drums and planks of timber in 1993. With a firm commitment the bar was completed about 6 months later, and much Central Australian memorabilia collected to decorate the place. The brewing had already begun and after a bit of trial, Bush Pig Ale was created and kegged. A dark malty beer; about 5%.

Then:
The Bush Pig Inn gained a reputation as Rugby League supporters venue and it hosted many a State of Origin drinking session. It even attracted a few of those Aussie Rules blokes, but there was nothing for them to watch.

Oh You Brew of Brown Barley
What Charm Is Thine?
'Neath Thy Spell Men Grow Happy
And Cease To Repine.
The Cowards Become Brave
And The Weak Become Strong
The Dour And The Grumpy
Burst Forth Into Song.
If There's Aught To Resemble
High Heaven Down Here
'Tis The Bush Pig Inn
Where They Wallow In Beer.

Today:
Sadly, The Bush Pig Inn is now closed. The new owners didn't want to continue with it so the doors were closed in 1997. There will be a new Bush Pig Inn in the Top End one day, I hope sooner rather than later.
